Entry is keyboard-first throughout, with Tally-style shortcuts, so anyone who has worked on Tally is quick from the first day. Enter walks forward through the line items; the item name completes as you type it; the rate and the tax come off the item master by themselves.
A USB barcode scanner needs no setup at all. It types the code and presses Enter, which is exactly what the item field is already waiting for - so scanning works the moment you plug one in, on the sale screen, the purchase screen and Fast Stock Entry.

Stock moves as you bill
Every sale takes the goods off stock at the moment the bill is saved, and every purchase puts them back - so the Stock Summary is the shelf, not a report you rebuild at month end. The same valuation engine feeds the Balance Sheet, which is why the two can never quietly disagree.
If a bill would take an item below zero, Zembook refuses it and says so - and it checks that as of the bill's own date, so back-dating a sale to before the purchase that covered it is caught rather than silently accepted.
Every customer's khata, without a separate book
Each customer and supplier has a real ledger, so the running balance is a consequence of the bills rather than a number somebody maintains. When a party pays, the receipt is knocked off their oldest bill first, which is how you know which bill is still pending rather than only how much is.
Their statement prints or exports to PDF laid out the way you want it, and goes out on WhatsApp from the same screen.

- No, and if you want one, buy the cheapest USB one you can find. It behaves as a keyboard - it types the code and presses Enter - so it works with no configuration. Zembook also prints barcode labels for your own items.
- Can I bill without keeping stock?
- Yes. A sale invoice can be item-wise or accounts-only, so a service business or a shop that does not track stock can bill without an item master at all.
- Will it work when the internet is down?
- Yes. The books are a file on your own computer and every screen works offline. That matters most at a counter, where a connection problem cannot be allowed to stop billing.
- Can two people bill at the same time?
- Yes. One PC holds the books and the others work on them over your own network - cable or WiFi - with no server to install and no separate multi-user edition to buy.
